EMIGRE CRIME RING BUSTED.
Publication: Monitor Volume: 1 Issue: 95
Federal and local law enforcement agents,
armed with nearly 100 search and seizure warrants, busted a major crime ring
based in Los Angeles’ Russian emigre community Tuesday, arresting 13 and seizing
assets worth more than $2 million. The indictments portray an alleged criminal empire, which had tentacles that reached throughout Southern California and included defrauding the government of millions of dollars in diesel fuel excise taxes, running a
drug distribution network and operating a prostitution ring that involved female
Russian emigres.
