Georgia’s state fuel and power company announced yesterday that it has set up a parity joint venture with Russia’s Unified Energy System to reactivate and administer the 1,200-kilometer-long electricity transmission line connecting Russia and Georgia across the Caucasus mountain range. The venture, GruzRosEnergo, expects that electricity delivered from Russia through this line will fully meet Georgia’s current consumption. (Interfax, March 27)
