GERMAN PRESIDENT IN GEORGIA.

On an official visit to Georgia June 11-13, German president Roman Herzog announced that Germany has extended a $50 million credit for the rehabilitation of Georgia’s power plants. Herzog and Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze described bilateral trade as below existing potentials, but political relations as close. Herzog also conferred with the German-led OSCE mission that is involved in efforts to settle the South Ossetia and Abkhazia conflicts. German foreign minister Klaus Kinkel had paid an official visit to Georgia last month. (Interfax, Western agencies, June 13)
