GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY URGED.

An official from Russia’s Ministry of Defense Industries complained on October 15 that Russian airlines had purchased only 4 domestically produced aircraft through the first nine months of this year. The official warned that a number of aircraft production plants face grave financial difficulties, and urged the government to provide financial support for the domestic aircraft industry. (Interfax, October 15) A September decision by Aeroflot to buy 10 Boeing-737’s brought to a head resentment among Russian aircraft producers.
