INCIDENTS ON ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJANI FRONT REPORTED.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 76

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry announced yesterday that Armenian forces had attacked Azerbaijani positions twice on April 14 and once more on April 15. Baku’s announcement claimed that 13 Armenian soldiers were killed and/or wounded in the two April 14 attacks, but that Azerbaijani forces suffered no losses. On April 15 a car carrying Andrzej Kasprzyk, the OSCE chairman-in-office’s personal representative in the region, was fired upon from the Armenian side on the southern sector of the Armenian-Azerbaijani front. No casualties were reported in that incident, which the Polish diplomat was cited as having blamed on undisciplined Armenian soldiers. Yerevan had claimed this past weekend that seven Azerbaijani soldiers were killed in an attack on Armenian positions. Neither side has confirmed the other’s account of the incidents.
