INDONESIA, RUSSIA TO NEGOTIATE AIRCRAFT DEAL.

Indonesia’s minister of industry said on August 25 that his country would like to pay for Russian military aircraft at least in part by supplying Russia with raw materials and such consumer goods as jeans, toothpaste, and soap. Earlier this month Indonesia announced its intention to buy 12 Sukhoi-30 fighters and 8 Mi-17 military helicopters. An Indonesian military delegation departed on August 25 for Moscow, where it will negotiate on the deal. (Itar-Tass, August 25)
