On November 14, the website Lenta.ru reported that, on the previous day, the State Duma had turned down a resolution in support of the creation of a parliamentary commission to investigate the circumstances underlying the seizure of the hostages in Moscow. Only thirty-eight deputies voted for the draft offered by the Union of Right Forces faction, with 226 votes being needed for adoption. An alternative resolution sponsored by the Yabloko faction was also considered, but it, too, was not adopted. Only 127 deputies voted for that draft.
