Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 205

The Japanese Self Defense Force wants to study a proposal that would allow Russian airline flights in and out of the civilian airport of Sapporo, on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. On those infrequent occasions in the past when Russian charter flights have landed at Sopporo, the military has temporarily shut down its radars and antennas. (Itar-Tass, October 31)
