Russia’s Foreign Ministry said June 25 that Moscow supports the idea of removing Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic from the political arena, but it strongly warned against efforts by the West to make Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic responsible for Karadzic’s ouster. A ministry source repeated Moscow’s belief both that Milosevic has made an enormous contribution to the Balkan peace process and that any threats to reimpose sanctions on Belgrade would be "counter-productive."
