On a three-day visit to Russia, completed on October 25, Lithuanian president Algirdas Brazauskas signed with his Russian counterpart Boris Yeltsin a border-delimitation treaty — Moscow’s first with a Baltic state. Yeltsin renewed his offer to guarantee the security of Lithuania and of the other two Baltic states if they renounce the goal of accession to NATO. The three Baltic governments, however, reaffirmed their stand against the proposal. (BNS, October 27)
