Despitelast week’s clashes between the government and the opposition,and a rising tide of complaints about the Armenian government’shandling of the upcoming elections, many Armenians apparentlyare unconcerned about President Levon Ter-Petrosian’s decisionto suspend the nationalist Dashnak party and about the almostcertain victory of the president’s party in the July 5 vote, theAragil news service reported June 26. A survey of 600 Armeniansconducted by Yerevan University sociologists found that 66.5 percentof Armenians said that they did not care very much about Ter-Petrosian’sdecision to suspend the Dashnak party and believed it was simplyanother political game by the bosses.
