MARKETS REACT TO RUSSIAN CRISIS.

European share prices opened lower this morning in reaction to Russia’s crisis, but losses were less sharp than yesterday’s 6 percent slump on the New York stock exchange. London was down 3 percent today in early trading, and similar falls were reported in Paris and Frankfurt. Asian markets were steadier: Hong Kong was down 3 percent at close of business today, but Tokyo finished 2 percent up. (BBC, September 1)
