Aleksandr Smolensky, head of the failed SBS-Agro Bank, faces questioning with regard to the embezzlement of $32 million from a bank in Kazakhstan in the early 1990s. Smolensky is in Austria for medical treatment…. Also facing embezzlement charges is Grigory Koshel, deputy chairman of Vladimir Potanin’s Oneksimbank. Koshel, who was arrested last November, is free on bail and on the personal assurances of Potanin and Viktor Gerashchenko, president of the Central Bank of Russia.
