MOSCOW NOT SENDING MONEY TO RUSSIAN FARMERS.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 1 Issue: 36

The Russian government has not sent any of the money that it has promised to Russia’s hardpressed farmers, Duma deputy Gennady Kulik told Moscow radio June 20. The budget committee member said he could not square government claims that it had send billions of rubles to farmers with his own studies, which show farmers have received none of it. One result of this, Kulik said, is that fuel reserves in rural areas are now less than 25 percent of what they were two years ago; another result is that gathering the harvest this year is likely to be even more difficult than in the past.
