Tronin, a worker ata Nizhny Tagil tank factory, took one for a drive through thecity’s streets recently, and returned to the factory only whenthe tank was about to run out of gas, the Cherepovets newspaperRech reported June 23. When caught by authorities, he toldthem that "the night before he had had a drink after whichhis wife began to complain that he was not earning enough money.Tronin said that employees at the plant haven’t been paid forseveral months, and he merely wanted to draw the attention ofthe authorities to the desperate situation in the country’s military-industrialcomplex."
