NEW RUSSIAN MILITARY APPOINTMENTS.

President Boris Yeltsin yesterday named Lt. Gen. Vladimir Isakov Chief of Rear Services and a deputy defense minister. He had been the chief of staff of the Rear Services. Col. Gen. Vladimir Yakovlev — who had been acting head of the Strategic Rocket Forces since Gen. Igor Sergeev was named Defense Minister — was confirmed in that post. Yeltsin also appointed Lt. Gen. Ilya Panin as the military’s top personnel officer and named Georgy Kashpirovich to head the Siberian Military District. (RIA Novosti, June 30)
