ONE SODIROV APPREHENDED.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 53

Bahrom Sodirov, co-leader with his brother Rizvon of an armed detachment that the government had earlier tried to unleash against the opposition, was captured over the weekend with 21 of his fighters near Obigarm in a joint operation of government and opposition forces. The unprecedented operation, in which prominent opposition field commander Mullo Abdullo’s detachment participated, seems to augur well for the maintenance of the ceasefire in this bitterly contested region in central Tajikistan. Rizvon’s force is still at large, however. (Interfax, March 15)
