According to Gazprom director Viktor Ilyushin (a former Yeltsin aide and deputy prime minister), at the end of this month the corporation will create a special holding company, Gazprom-Media, to manage its interests in TV and newspapers. Ilyushin said the goal is to ensure the presentation of "an objective image" of Gazprom’s activities. Gazprom already has an interest in the Trud and Rabochaya tribuna dailies, owns 30 percent of NTV, and with LUKoil is developing a network of regional TV stations. (Izvestia, October 15)
