United Tajik Opposition (UTO) vice-chairman Akbar Turajonzoda began yesterday in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat the first of what UTO hopes to be a series of direct meetings with all Central Asian presidents. Turajonzoda has already contacted the presidents and plans to ask them to support in their contacts with Moscow the UTO’s proposals for a political settlement of the Tajikistan war. The UTO believes that the key to a settlement lies in Moscow, Turanjozoda said.
