PROMOTION FOR RUSSIA’S AGRICULTURE MINISTER.
Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 100
In a concession to the Communist-dominated Duma, President Boris Yeltsin has promoted Agriculture Minister Viktor Khlystun to deputy prime minister in charge of the agroindustrial complex. The Communists and their agrarian allies complained when the new government was formed in March that agriculture was being ignored. The promotion of Khlystun, who has been agriculture minister since May of last year, brings the number of deputy premiers to seven. (Interfax, May 19)
