RED SUIT FOR YELTSIN?

Anatoly Lukyanov, leader of the communist group in the State Duma, announced on October 20 that the Russian Communist Party plans to sue Boris Yeltsin for defamation. Lukyanov was responding to the president’s remarks of the previous day, when he told members of the press that a Red victory in December must be prevented. Lukyanov also charged Yeltsin with "crude violation of election legislation" for his support of noncommunist groups. (7) Lukyanov got support from Agrarian Party leader Mikhail Lapshin, who on Friday accused Yeltsin of launching a witch hunt against communists. (8)
