RUSSIA SEEKING MILITARY USE OF SPACE STATION?

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 96

The newspaper Nezavisimaya gazeta reported yesterday that Moscow is seeking an agreement with the U.S. that would allow Russia — and, reportedly, the U.S. also — to make military use of the "Alpha" international space station. The newspaper warned that the effort to provide "for Russia and the United States to use their own modules… in the interests of national security" could provoke protests from the station’s other major participants — the European Space Agency, Canada, and Japan.
