RUSSIAN FIGHTER PROGRAM PUT ON HOLD.
Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 56
The MiG 1.42 multi-purpose jet fighter program has been put on hold, reportedly because the Russian air force cannot presently afford it. The plane has been under development for a number of years and is said to share many features with the American F-22, including stealth, composite materials, and high agility. The Moscow Aircraft Producing Organization (MAPO) will instead concentrate on the MiG-35, a major modernization of the MiG-29. (Itar-Tass, March 19)
