RUSSIAN NAVAL OFFICERS COMMIT SUICIDE.

In yet another indication of declining morale and living conditions in Russia’s armed forces, two officers serving in the Northern Fleet committed suicide last week. Both officers reportedly left notes attributing their action to chronic non-payment of salaries and to the financial problems that they faced with their families. (Itar-Tass, June 3) Russia’s armed forces have been wracked in recent months by a series of suicides and deadly shooting incidents.
