RUSSIAN SCIENTISTS PROTEST NOBEL AWARD…

A group of Russian scientists has written to the Swedish Royal Academy protesting the award of the Nobel prize for physics this year to two Americans and one Frenchman. The Russians claimed that their own work had been published before that of the winning scientists, and that they are farther along in the study of lasers and the movement of atoms. Vladimir Minogin, a professor at the Russian Academy of Sciences, described this year’s award as an "outrageous injustice." (UPI, October 23)
