SHARP RISE IN RUSSIA’S INFLATION RATE.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 190

Inflation went up sharply in Russia during the first week of October, with consumer prices rising 0.5 percent according to official government statistics. The rise comes in marked contrast to the downward trend registered in September, when prices rose at an average weekly rate of only 0.1 percent, producing an increase of 0.3 percent for the month as a whole. Last week’s rise means that the inflation rate for October is likely to be at least twice as high as September’s. (Interfax, October 10)
