The veteran British rock group, the Rolling Stones, gave their first live concert in Moscow last night, more than thirty years after they first applied for permission to visit. (BBC, August 12) The group’s applications for visas were turned down twice in the Soviet period. Last night, they played in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium to 70,000 people, some of whom came from as far away as Siberia to hear them.
