UKRAINE TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATION ON LIBYA ARMS DEAL.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 233

The Ukrainian parliament yesterday resolved to create a special commission to investigate a U.S. newspaper’s allegation of Ukrainian arms dealings with Libya. (See Monitor, December 10-11) The Communist party’s parliamentary group initiated the move hoping to embarrass the government. The majority at first rejected it, but reversed itself after the military intelligence chief, Gen. Aleksandr Skypalsky, told the chamber that an investigation would be useful for "removing the unfounded accusations against Ukraine." (Interfax-Ukraine, December 12)
