VOLSKY: PUNISH MILITARY FOR ROSHNI-CHU BOMBING.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 1 Issue: 121

Russia’s deputy chief negotiator in Chechnya and prominent political figure, Arkady Volsky, has berated the Russian military in Chechnya for failing to identify, let alone stop, the mysterious airplanes which bombed Roshni-Chu village October 8, reportedly killing more than 20 Chechen civilians. Volsky revealed in an election campaign appearance that the military had first claimed that the airplanes were Azerbaijani, then Georgian, then simply unidentifiable. Volsky urged that the military commanders responsible for the cover-up be removed from their posts. Russia’s Military Prosecutor’s Office investigates the incident. (7)
