President Yeltsin is reported to have signed a decree before the second round of the election dismissing Georgy Rogozin, first deputy head of the presidential security service. Rogozin has until now been deputy to General Aleksandr Korzhakov, whom Yeltsin also sacked during the election campaign but who is said to remain close to the president and still to be occupying his old Kremlin office.
