Arriving in the Volga region late last week, vacationing Russian president Boris Yeltsin said he would work as well as rest. Yeltsin is to meet today with Defense Minister Igor Sergeev to discuss military reform. On July 23, First Deputy Premier Boris Nemtsov will come to Samara with draft plans fleshing out Yeltsin’s proposal to send 5,000 senior managers and 25,000 middle-ranking managers abroad for training. Later in the week Yeltsin will take a boat trip to examine the poor state of the dams and sluices along the Volga. (RTR, July 18)
