Aleksandr Kazakov, Russian deputy prime minister in charge of privatization, told a news conference yesterday that, while privatization is set to continue, its scale will be sharply reduced. Of the original list of 30 enterprises scheduled for privatization this year, Kazakov said, only eight remain, "and such companies as "Gazprom, Rosneft, and Rosstrakh [gas, petroleum and insurance companies] are leaving the eight."
