Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 149
Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) yesterday refused comment on reports that Tokyo police are searching for a Russian national suspected of having spied for Moscow since the 1960’s. (See yesterday’s Monitor) An SVR spokeswoman did say that Japan has not contacted Russia officially about the allegations. Meanwhile, Tokyo authorities said yesterday that the spy suspect, who is named Ichiro Kuroba, made frequent trips to Europe and may have been engaged in espionage activities there.
