Vladimir Socor:“Romania: Euro-Atlantic Pillar on the Black Sea”
Romania: Euro-Atlantic Pillar on the Black Sea
NATO is transitioning from reassurance measures to a more serious deterrence posture on the Alliance’s Eastern flank vis-à-vis Russia. On March 23, Jamestown Senior Fellow Vladimir Socor presented on Romania, the Black Sea and the strategic implications of this transition, focusing on three points:
- NATO’s varied approach to the Northern and Southern sectors of the Alliance’s Eastern flank
- Romania’s role as the Euro-Atlantic pillar in the Black Sea region
- NATO and U.S. bilateral security commitments in the Black Sea focused on Romania
Jamestown would like to spotlight this presentation, as it provides analysis on an important, yet often overlooked and underappreciated dimension of NATO security.
