A NEW WAY OUT FOR TURKMEN GAS?

Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation has proposed the construction of a 4200-mile, $8.4 billion pipeline from Turkmenistan to Japan via China, Turkmenpress reported June 9. The project, which must overcome many obstacles including certain Russian opposition, would enrich Turkmenistan and allow Ashkhabad to solidify its independence.
