Meanwhile according to a recent Pravda report, aircraft said to belong to the Tajik Defense Ministry have conducted "additional" air strikes against villages believed to harbor resistance units in Tavil-Dara district in the Pamir foothills. "Particularly heavy strikes" were reportedly delivered against Lairon, in the area where 54 Tajik government soldiers were captured October 13. Tajik defense minister Sherali Khairullayev had flown to the area to negotiate the release of the prisoners but was told by resistance field commanders that they were not authorized to negotiate by their political leadership.
