Maj. Gen. Viktor Maluzov, the officer in charge of repairing tanks and armored vehicles in the North Caucasus Military District, has been arrested and charged with "abuse of power." The Military Prosecutor’s office said that the charges against Maluzov relate to the disposal of military equipment that had been damaged during the fighting in Chechnya. (Russian agencies, July 11)
