ANTI-NAZARBAYEV PROTESTERS ARRESTED IN ALMATY.

Police arrested31 people who were participating in a hunger strike to urge aboycott of the August 30 referendum on the constitution proposedby Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russian media reported.Most of the protesters appear to have been ethnic Russians. Groupswith similar goals said they would stage other protest ralliesin various cities throughout Kazakhstan.
