BRITAIN SLOW TO OPEN EMBASSIES IN TRANSCAUCASIA.

The recentlyappointed British ambassador to Armenia, David Miller, told anews conference in Yerevan as reported by Noyan Tapan August 4that his country had experienced considerable financial difficultiesin opening embassies in the independent countries of the ex-USSR.He said that Britain opened an embassy in Baku relatively earlydue to the formation of the international oil consortium in whichBritain participates, but that the opening of the Yerevan embassyis still being delayed. The British embassy in Tbilisi is nowplanned to open in September, four years into Georgian independence.
