Romanian president Ion Eliescu said in Tbilisi March 26 that Eastern European hopes of joining NATO are not aimed at any other country, but constitute a "guarantee of stability." He also criticized the Russian Duma’s March 15 resolution invalidating the dissolution of the USSR, a position echoed the next day by Romania’s foreign minister, who described it as "a clumsy attempt to put back the clock of history."
