
CHECHNYA INCLUDED IN SCHEDULED RUSSIAN CENSUS.

On April 26, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov signed an instruction mandating the conducting of a population census in the Chechen Republic this coming fall. This states that the government of Russia has adopted a proposal made by the State Statistics Committee (Goskomstat) of the Russian Federation that, in agreement with the pro-Moscow government of Chechnya, the all-Russian population census, which is to be carried out in all regions of Russia, should also be conducted in Chechnya, over the course of two days: October 12-13, 2002 (Kavkaz.strana.ru, April 26).
