CHERNOMYRDIN BLOC IN ST. PETERSBURG NAMES TOP CANDIDATES

The top three places in the St. Petersburg division of "Russia is Our Home" will be held by former KGB foreign intelligence colonel Vladimir Putin; by the chairman of the regional association of commercial banks, Sergei Popov; and by the wife of St. Petersburg mayor Anatoly Sobchak, Ludmila Narusova. Putin, who was for a long time Sobchak’s deputy for foreign trade relations, is also the coordinator of the bloc’s regional organization. Sobchak’s wife Ludmila is the chairwoman of the Mariinsky Fund, which is in charge of the reburial of the Romanov family remains in St. Petersburg. The Sobchaks are self-described constitutional monarchists. (5)
