CLINTON ADMINISTRATION SEEKS INCREASE IN AID FOR FORMER SOVIET STATES.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 28

The Clinton Administration is asking Congress for an increase of nearly 50 percent — from $625 million this year to $900 million in 1998 — in U.S. economic aid to the countries of the former Soviet Union. Russia would be the biggest winner, with aid rising from $95 million to $241.5 million. The request is part of the Clinton Administration’s international affairs budget for fiscal 1998.
