DANISH AID GOES ASTRAY.

On June 27, the pro-Putin website Strana.ru reported: “In a hiding place of the rebels in the village of Chozhi-chu, Achkoi-Martan District of Chechnya, boxes were discovered containing humanitarian aid that had been brought into [the republic] by the Danish Refugee Council…. All the boxes were marked with the logo of the Danish Refugee Council.” The website Utro.ru, which frequently echoes the views of the FSB of Chechnya, headed by General Sergei Babkin, underscored, “it is precisely humanitarian aid from Denmark which regularly falls into the hands of the rebels” (Utro.ru, June 27). These reports could represent the beginning of an attempt to remove the Danish Refugee Council from the North Caucasus region.
