The Russian parliament changed the rules June 9 for depriving a deputy charged with a crime of his immunity, Russian radio reported. In the past, lifting a deputy’s immunity required the support of two-thirds of all members; now it will require only one-half. Among the deputies who may lose their immunity under the new rules is Sergei Stankevich, a former Yeltsin advisor who is charged with misappropriation of funds and bribery.
