Afghanistan – Two years after the fall of the Taliban
November marks the second anniversary of the fall of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. In recognition of this, the Terrorism Monitor is devoting an entire issue to the subject of Afghanistan. While the contributors offer differing viewpoints in their assessments of the situation in that country today, it would be hard for anyone to argue that Afghanistan is not better off now than it was two years ago. Similarly, however, it would be equally difficult for anyone to assert that a positive future for the country is assured, particularly given the negative role currently being played by Pakistan, about which all of the authors seem to agree.
