Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 90

Former Security Council secretary Oleg Lobov has testified before the Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office that he had nothing to do with the 1995 nerve gas attack on a Tokyo subway by the Aum Shinri Kyo cult. Lobov reportedly told investigators that he had neither passed information to the cult nor received any money from it in return. (Interfax, May 6) A cult leader last month accused Lobov of providing the group with technical information on the production of deadly sarin gas in exchange for approximately $79,000.
