Moldova’s National Security Ministry announced yesterday that it had uncovered an Iron Guard student group in Chisinau, linked to like-minded groups in Romania and made up mainly of students who had attended Romanian colleges. "Iron Guard activities endanger Moldova’s security as a multiethnic state," the Ministry said. No legal action is being envisaged because group members agreed to cease activities. (Basapress, May 15) The Iron Guard was an interwar and wartime Romanian ultranationalist mass movement, continued by some student groups in Romania today.
