In a televised appearance, Foreign Minister Andrei Kozyrev rejected Duma accusations that his Balkan policy has "failed." According to Kozyrev, Russia is not in any position to confront the West over the Bosnian Serbs, and any deterioration of her relations with the US and the major European powers would be against her interests. The Duma critique, in Kozyrev’s view, was "overemotional"; he advanced Russian demands to stop NATO air strikes, but discovered that he remained in the minority at the UN and in other forums.
