MISSING INACTION.

Several organizations that missed the application deadline and/or felt mistreated by the Central Electoral Commission are considering legal action. The Democratic Russia-Free Trade Unions bloc announced on Tuesday that "it was studying the possibility" of lodging a complaint with the Supreme Court. (10) Three of "Democratic Russia’s" leading lights — Galina Starovoitova, Lev Ponomarev, and Gleb Yakunin — accused Ryabov’s commission of mishandling the bloc’s nomination materials and causing it to be disqualified from registration. Father Yakunin, who formally withdrew his candidacy to the Duma on October 23, said the commission dealt a deliberate "blow below the belt" to "Democratic Russia". (11) However at least one press account contends that the bloc’s activists "have no one to blame but themselves" for the late delivery of their signatures. (12)
